WINDOWS PHONE 8 REVIEW

So I spent some time messing around with it before bothering to write but here I go. I got a Nokia LUMIA 520, which is the 'budget' phone with the lowest specifications in the LUMIA line thus so far. It was 78 dollars prepaid.

So the first thing that should be noted is that despite having very low specifications, it's really really fast. Apps open instantly, there isn't any jitter etch.

The aesthetics are really good, I really love live tiles in windows 8 and it does as good a job here. You can change some colors in the theme but it isn't fully customizable (besides pinning and reposisitioning tiles on the main menu)

Apps, the store is limited but it hasn't been a big deal for me yet. Every utility I would want is either off the default install or provided by Microsoft. In particular the Bing apps are really good, especially Health and Fitness & News. News is its own customizable newsreel and Health and Fitness can track calorie counts, weight loss exercises, it has the whole package. Plus they all integreate with the equivalent 8.1 apps.

Typing. I was really surprised with how accurate the keyboard was, the last device I had that was this small was a little iPod touch from 2009 that missed every single letter but this is incredibly precise. On every occasion where I do misspell, autocorrect helps me out. It also has word prediction at the top of the keyboard which is super accurate.

Now, PROBLEMS: keeping track of how much of a charge your battery has left is a bitch. Integrating your MS account is annoying. Also, Skype app needs work.

Basically, fast, friendly, bug-free, it just works.

If only Android just worked.

Android doesn't just work out of the box, though. It's okay, FlamingDinner - any person regardless of their steroid-fed ego will pride themselves for working with shitty, dysfunctional products; just look at self-proclaimed IKEA engineers and PCPartPicker computer scientists.

I'll always be sad that the Z10 didn't work out but...

Err there's nothing like that in the phone..

android has never been buggy for me and i've used uncastrated stock but i guess it does fit that description more than narrow walkway windows phone and shut off garden ios and burnt mansion blackberry

android is easy as shit and you don't even need to install anything third party to have it fully operational
