foreign languages

im probably required to take language for a class in high school so ill probably take french or german

the closest thing to a universal language is english, and it just happens that english is one of the harder languages to grasp all of the nuances that exist within its grammar

well there are a lot of resources that support it and there are even kids who have it as their first language now

i don't think it's going to be the "english-killer" but its probably not dying anytime soon

if esperanto meant anything to anybody it wouldn't be anything

well china is an economic powerhouse being able to communicate properly with their big-label corporations is real money

and the bottleneck between china and the US is incredible, they have a billion people but there's only a few thousand american translators at the most. china is extremely generous to the translators for obvious reasons

china has been gunning to get everyone there at least partways fluent in 英语 but it's not working out because there's a limited amount of English teachers who can teach to a billion Chinese people

i mean learning the basics on english may not be that hard, but to master it

it's so fucking obvious you're a foreigner no matter what in english. i can't do the subjunctive in spanish for shit (ehhh which is justified because they don't teach it until fucking level 3 pre ap) and people think i'm just a hick native speaker. in english you can be a foreigner over the phone and people will still tell even without an accent
