SURFACE REWVIW

i did not get a surface 2 because theyre too expensive. FUKK THAT SHIT. i dont need fancy modurn hardware.

the thing is totally crippled from the start. finding a way to update takes forever (at least for me because im so used to using 8.1). after doing the hours long update (which takes even longer because you need a full battery to do it and i got mine at empty) the thing is WAY better. then you have to go through installing 8.1 which is fun i guess

regular RT sucks BALLS. RT 8.1 is so much better but the whole process of getting there takes forever. the materials on the tablet are incredibly good and the thing feels nice to hold. the desktop is basically useless for RT, you never need to use it unless you use the microshit word/excel/powerpoint/etc that gets gratiously bundled in for free. metro internet explorer is SO FUCKIN SEXY. the windows store is useless and most of the appz for it are half baked, and you need an outlook account to install them. most of the stuff that gets bundled off the default install is all you're really gonna need unless you want some shitty games.

the glass feels kind of funny to rub against, it's not slick but whatever no big deal. the speakers on this thing are !!COMPLETE SHIT!! everytime the notification noise rings out i want to clamp my hands against my ears because it has that ringy feedback that shitty speakers make.

finding a way to update to 8.1 took way longer than it should have. WHY THE FUCK IS IT ON THE GIMMICKY WINDOWS STORE.

i already have my fingerprints all over the screen. better not leave this at a murder site.

the whole thing is surprisingly light on its toes for what it's worth. it's not lightning xxxRICExxx but it never badly trips over its self.

i still have no idea how to open context menus lel. goddamnit.

i probably need to get a touch cover for this bitch

basically it's a nice thing to have if you have some disposable money. im not jacking off on the screen YET but it's cute and i like it and it seems to be getting better as time goes on

Really recommend it. This thing destroys android (especially in performance) and provides way more depth than anything the iPad can do. 200 GB of free SkyDrive space, full desktop, IE11, god tier hardware even on low end models etc.

Basically been having a lot of fun with this thing. Good use of 300 dollars for what you get

rt is a modified version of win eight, you have the desktop UI available but you can't install anything onto it, it also comes with MS office 2012 but the thing is mostly metro-centric

Pro comes with fully accessible desktop and some other goodies plus better specifications. It's meant to be a convertible laptop/tablet

as in, you can install applications off of the windows store for metro, i have a couple and they're nice

but you can't install applications for the desktop interface, you can only use the stuff that gets packed-in which is just the usual windows applications (notepad/wordpad, IE11, etc.) and phree MS Office. you don't get a free copy of MS office on pro which is weird

firefox is getting a metro edition by V29 and i expect it to be on the microsoft store by then, but i think i'm gonna stick to IE11, its metro version is glorious

the original surface RT is

S2P is something in the realm of 700 dollars, S2RT is ~450. not sure on the status of S1P

yeah i know the prices and how rt and shit works but do you know the real 'feel' difference that you can only tell from using it

my biggest issue with the regular surface RT is getting it upgraded and up to windows 8.1

8.0 RT was absolute shit but 8.1 improved it in so many ways, but it takes a few hours to charge the battery so you can update, then update, then upgrade the OS

doesn't even have to be performance; even the tiniest differences can make it feel better or worse (like the speed of apple's touchscreens over android devices - the difference is super tiny but you can definitely tell some of them apart)

ohh, compared to competing tablets or with pro?

the speakers on the RT were totally blowy at first but with the firmware updates and upgrade to windows 8.1 they sound fine

the screen quality is good, my fingers have a kind of resistence against the screen when i try to rub the screen point-blank with my fingers but i think that's just about how soft my hands are, i usually just use the side of my thumb for swiping etc.

everything on the screen looks great, it's one of those high DPI screens so everything looks super super sharp, also the screen brightness adjusts to the lighting of wherever it is. there's no lag for touching the screen, all animations are fluid, etc.

this is just the surface RT, i hear that the S2P has XXXRICEXXX performance. everything is fluid on just this though, and this is the low-end model.

ios doesn't (their touch screens are glorious as FUCK <60ms for the reaction) but android screens can go up to 1/5th of a second for a reaction which makes it feel reallly sluggish and shitty

even the best android phone for response is over twice as slow as the 5s
