It's called Tetsujin 28 (known as Gigantor in the usa) and Aired around the same time as Astro Boy (the manga came out in 1956 though)

As is usual with old stuff , it got tons of reboots / remakes :

The 1980's version (released in the USA as the new adventures of gigantor)


Tetsujin 28 FX (never released in the U.S. , Not sure about fansubs)

Ran from 1992 to 1993 , it was a sequel to the original , not the 80's remake.

And my favorite: The 2004 remake (Got dubbed with pretty much no changes)


Got a live action movie in 2005 (which takes place in modern times) [WARNING : PRETTY BAD CGI AND GENERAL BADNESS SO I WILL NOT SHOW A CLIP]

Also worth noting that it never appeared in a super robot wars game until SRW Z2 Sasai Hen
