Been thinking of giving it a go for a while now but I'm not sure I want to pay to play it.

you can't pilot some industrials, can't do as much if you wanna do planetary stuff, can't train for a mining barge

but as far as combat goes I think you're ok
also please remember that it takes awhile to get into the game because of all the fuckin skills you need to train

and I bet you'll enjoy the community

building a colony on a planet to harvest resources you can sell. it's just one of a crapton of ways of making money

also I almost forgot joining the game is a huge learning curve. skipping the tutorials is not recommended. and prepare to google things a lot.

I know about the difficulty curve and how hard it is to get into the game at first and all that.

Basically, with a free account I still have access to the social side of it, yeah? Like player markets, alliances and so on?
Not that I'm interested in joining an alliance but I'm asking to get a general idea.

or a trader since they dont tell anybody anything ever

being a full time miner is the gayest thing you can do
being a pirate pisses people off and its funny, but all you can do is pirate
better idea would be to do a bunch of things
