stalin's ghost: a book about what else as reviewed by rtcity

you know i literally have not even read this book at all even though i have it in my small repository and i have jack shit idea of what it's about but it sounds weird so i'm going to share the experience with you guys

this can only go well

PART ONE: STALIN'S PROLOGUE

i'm skipping all the dumb bullshit at the beginning because there's a ton of worthless cataloguing and repeating of how, yes, this is "STALIN'S GHOST" just in case you didn't see it raised up in about 30 point times new roman font on the cover

"Winter was what Muscovites lived for."
i thought these fuckers lived for praising StalinPutin, you mean to tell me they actually praise winter?

some prose ensues, and then we get to this quality piece

"Snow that sometimes fell as a lacy haze, sometimes thick as down."
alright now i don't know about you but at no point in time have i ever heard anyone refer to snow fall as "thick as down" and i have no idea what the shit that's even supposed to mean

hell, i don't even know if the author himself knows what the fuck that means

top notch use of purple prose either way

we get some more prose about snow and then we talk about lenin a bit and then we get to our hero who is evidently named "Arkady" and how when the snow melts in Moscow (which is in Spring!!!! as this book helpfully points out) you find a bunch of bodies because apparently, as the book unintentionally implies, the police force of Moscow is too lazy to attempt any sorts of murder solving in the winter

i can already tell this will be a treat
