LOL above look at this uneducated fool my nvideo 690 runs tf2 just fine at 24fps (film fps so why should 30 matter?)

The hypocrisy is amazing. One of the biggest draws of consoles is simplicity. You don't have to worry about hardware conflicts or RAM compatibility with your new motherboard. You wont spend hours searching forums because your newly installed games keep crashing or having screen tearing any of the myriad of problems that plague pc gaming™. You buy a console, it generally lasts for a pretty decent amount of times and runs all the games of the current generation in decent fidelity (say that of ANY gaming PC built in 2005).
But when Valve comes along and decides to make pc gaming™ more approachable, opening up pc gaming™ to a broader audience (except none of those things are really being brought up as this is Valve trying to move away from Windows, nothing more), then suddenly introducing console like aspects are 100% awesome. Because Lord GabeN and the Church of Steam, in nomine HL3, et TF2, et spiritu Dota2, sanction it.

Or in this case: Imagine grandma buys little Billy a Steam Machine. Little Billy wants to play Battlefield...but he can't play it on his Steam Machine because it hasn't been ported to linux...which won't make any sense to him. Unless the next announcement is "We just bought out CodeWeavers(or we have a team working on) to make WINE super awesome,and we're going to make WINE totally transparent to the end-user", this is a problem that Steam OS will have, and I don't think the Steam Machine will create enough demand for devs of AAA games to consider Linux ports.
the semen fiesta over the Steam Machine/Steam OS shows how out of touch people on the internet(including gaming journalists) are with the mainstream market,in addition to the hypocrisy you've pointed out.
Ok, sure I understand that Steam OS and Machine isn't targeted to the mass market....but then who is it targeting? The pc gaming™ race already has PCs(and quite a few of them are poor college students) and the Console Peasants already have consoles...
