kirby super star ultra is the shit i still got it

battlefield series are fun shooty stabby fpses that aren't as fast paced

cod series are fun shooty stabby fpses for fast paced action on console (cs or unreal tournament are probably better picks for pc)

rise of nations and age of empires/mythology are glorious real time strategy games that are actually real time

civilization is a good turn-based rts but it plays like a board game

killing floor is unbelievably british(gay) and is really repetitive but has good teamwork plays way better than l4d

#dinosaur battles for dinosaur smackdowns

uplink is a cool HAXOR SIMULATOR puzzle game made by some commies in euroland

physblocks (made in usa) all the way for fans of 3d colored blocks

on my ds i definitely played pokemon mystery dungeon more than pokemon pearl or platinum

metroid prime is an interesting first person puzzle shooter if anyone wants one of those

chrono trigger and final fantasy 6 still hold up as seriously good turn based snes rpg's. they've also been re-released for ds and gameboy advance respectively

garrys mod for pretty much any reason you want

super hexagon might not exactly be a 'game' to some but it certainly is a challenging title with a kick ass soundtrack to boot

i still think super mario sunshine was the best 3d mario game

sonic generations is really good if you like them sonicy titles

jet set radio (sometimes known as jet grind radio) is like a tony hawk game except better, faster, cooler, and oh. so radical.

geometry wars is basically classic asteroids except a million times more vibrant, colorful, and awesome

castlevania: sotn. no further words needed.

if ya like rhythm games, i recommend guitar hero 2 or rockband 2. gh2 had in my opinion the best setlist of any guitar hero game, and rockband 2 has a million zillion trillion songs from all the hypest artists - albeit 95% of it is paid dlc. also, parappa. and audiosurf 2.

my favorite fps games that aren't metroid include team fortress 2, halo 3/reach, borderlands 2, deus ex: human revolution, cod: world at war/black ops 2, and of course, timesplitters 2/future perfect

platformers: n+ (a little short if you're super good at platformers but still a great arcade game), Kirby superstar ultra (obviously), Super Paper Mario (a must for anyone with a wii), Yoshi's island/YI DS, ANY warioland game, sonic rush/sonic rush adventure, sonic adventure 2: battle, sonic advance 2
racing: KIRBY AIR RIDE, MKDS (definitely not going to be as good as I remember it now that Ninty WFC is dead), burnout 3 & burnout revenge (total fucking mayhem + GODLIKE SOUNDTRACKS)
shmups: R-Type DX, Toho shooters are good but the learning curve is not for laymen, big bang mini, BANGAI-O SPIRITS
fighting: SF4 (of course), SSBM (no online play sucks but it's a blast with friends and there are tournaments for it everywhere), SSBB (not nearly as active competitively as SSBM but still good), MVC3 is shit
RPGs: rpgs r for homos
RPGs: Paper Mario TTYD (timeless masterpiece), I think paper Mario 64 sucked ass but I get called a faggot a lot for this opinion so go for it, all pokemon games are good except for the ones with mega evolutions in them, also pokemon mystery dungeon games get overlooked way too much, nethack, LoZ: Link's Awakening (any Zelda is good but fuck 3D Zelda (I get called a faggot for this opinion a lot also)), Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga (arguably as good as TTYD)
MOBA: ESPORTS ARE FOR NERDS

note most of the geometry wars ports and remakes are complete shit, NDS in particular. stick to the original two games, they're great

crysis 2 is one of my favorite sci fi fpses

linear as fuck but story is great and whole game is fun definitely the best among the 3 (first one and its mini sequel is like a sandbox but the game itself is more like a demo and third one isnt as good)

sim city 4 is glory incarnate

fifa world cup is a pretty good game you can lead your team to glory if you dont suck
