My partner and I decided to watch the parody movie “Spy Hard” starring Leslie Nielson, since we’d never seen it before.

Before the movie had even really started, the opening credits sequence, in similar fashion to several James Bond movies, uses silhouttes of women swimming behind the text. To reinforce that they’re swimming, there are bubbles floating through each “scene”.

At one point, there’s an obviously heavier (but still healthy) woman’s silhouette shown swimming, but obviously meant to represent so-called “fat” people. The bubbles for this scene are shown to be coming from her rear, as though only fat people fart! I was so upset, I immediately ejected the DVD, snapped it in two, and reported to Netflix that it arrived damaged.

I’ve been crying ever since!

Thin privilege is being able to watch the opening sequence to a movie without being shamed about the size of your body, or bodily functions which are natural to everyone!
