RIP Metro Firefox

Yes apparently there was a version of Firefox made for Metro, which nobody even knew about and now they're cancelling it because 'no one used it'. Well, no shit.

I knew about it but this guy basically summarized for me:

They're basically saying that no one used the Firefox ModernUI because no one uses the ModernUI. I call bullshit. No one used the ModernUI version of Firefox because it was a piece of shit. If they had a better product, they would have seen more users.

Metro Firefox wouldn't even fucking run on my computer, it would just crash on startup.

From what I've heard it was pretty awful. No bookmarks, no browser history, it was basically just a raw browser with a couple gigantic back/forward buttons, a refresh/stop thingy, a url textbox and some tabs.

no, I just know someone was working on something meant to be just like opera 12xx but I lost the link long ago

the problem is OperaSoftware still hasn't released Presto's source so it's not really much of an 'opera experience'

My older brother downloaded and started using Opera in 2008 (on a family computer), and I was about 12 at the time, only ever previously using Firefox and IE, and it's always been my favourite browser. All the computers at my school, and most public places, have Chrome, which is decent, and the second best thing to Opera, but Opera in all its facets just seems to be the best web-browser in my opinion. I was quite surprised to discover how relatively obscure it is. I mean, imagine how many of the unwashed masses are unenlightened by the glorious embrace of the most grande web browser. It's sad. I think sometimes we just have to reflect on how privileged we really are.

FF is nice but it's defenitely not on the leading edge of browser technology, which is how some people like it

Opera has actually made the most lasting contributions to the browser market. smooth scrolling, extensions, skins, tabs, all opera

i don't care much anyways i might just keep using opera even though it's not getting anymore support, that or IE i guess

i'd like to use firefox but it seriously sucks on old hardware on windows

once i finally bother to get that shiny new thinkcenter maybe then but until then i'm sticking to Opera and its neet-friendly hardware requirements

i don't like ff any more it's slower, not as useful, uglier, less features, shitty ass gay tab sync and recovery etc than the competition the only thing i can think of that warrants anybody using it is like one or two extensions

not anymore, FF is orders of magnitudes faster than chrome since it's not multiprocess

also it has wayy more features once you dig into about:config

just found out otter uses webkit which means it's basically gonna be ricer's chrome even though chrome uses blink

using a browser that's not supported is a security and web technology nightmare especially one like opera 12

i trust MSE to keep me safe its not like im going on freesoftwaredownloads2010.info. i dont have java or flash or any of the other classic exploitation gateways either

also most of the websites i go on are extremely web 1.0 so i'm not worried about missing access to 'web technologies'

and chrome is even less friendly to neet specs than firefox

why do ALL THE BROWSERS suck so badly with tab handling. only opera 12 can do it right

i want to use IE but it sucks with even as low as 10 tabs

ff's tabs are super ugly they got uglier with australis in some ways. i would never have more than 3 open in it

ies tab handling is alright. i fucking love its groups even if its ugly its nice to have. go over the limit and its scrolling is even worse than ff's

i would use maxthon for tab handling. i wish i was shitting you but i'm not. if it's one of those days you want to look up 200 pictures of anime girls use maxthon nigra, chrome doesn't work for you and the others are gay with tabs

blink for a zillion of tabs is a no-go because of having tabs as seperate processes. so much ram sucking

FF having the tab rollover thing is my favorite part about the browser

ff is so high just because its tab rollover is so smooth otherwise it sucks for a shit-ton of tabs

rollover shouldn't happen at all especially when the tabs are so huge before rolling over at least ie has small rollover tabs
