nah in a game it's pretty easy to set up an ai to make intentional mistakes or take different paths to solve things

ai is easy to make 'intelligent' when you specifically program them to perform certain actions

In the Halo3 days (first one I played online) I made a lot of friends over voice chat and could jump into a full custom game like pacman just about any time I signed on. Even playing ranked, the majority of the time the voice chat was full of people having a good time. One night a week several real life friends and I would have a "game night" and we'd play Halo for hours starting in public lobbies and in a private custom match with another group of fun people we'd meet. People rarely freaked out if someone didn't play well. Eventually most of us moved on to other games.

ODST Reach came out and I was one of the "suckers" from my real life friends that got it on day 1. Anyone on voice was spamming fart noises, screaming crap, blasting music, or whatever they could to be distracting. They'd complain if you weren't good enough even in unranked games. We started going to private party chat before even trying to join a game, never even having a chance to maybe get to know other cool gamers. Hearing how it wasn't nearly as fun as 3, most of my friends passed on it. I think only one of my friends bothered to get 4. He never uses voice chat and was obsessed with ranking up his character.

I can see why the site devoted to the game would become a toxic place. The people you meet playing the game online are toxic. They drove all "fun" players out of the franchise in the quest to have "good" players at all cost.

halo 3 was fucking crazy fun halo reach was meh and halo 4 is just about getting your character to RANK 130 my dad has maxed out his character now

halo 4 is less fun than le battlefield 3 was imo
