Re: USBCondoms - Charging only, no data
Enjoy your slow charging phone. Without those data pins the charger has no way of telling the phone it can draw additional amperage. It could take your iPhone 5 15 times longer to charge through one of these condoms. Many devices won't charge at all.

Re: USBCondoms - Charging only, no data
yeah i've fucked with usb the dude is right
usb is a uart connection which means it sends data over two pins (tx and rx) and has two additional pins for power (voltage and ground)
normally you can only draw like 5 watts from it but if you connect in 'charging mode' (which requires the two data pins to be connected) you can draw up to 25+ watts which is definitely required for a phone/tablet

Re: USBCondoms - Charging only, no data
this is because some "charging stations" have malware or some shit like that but this is easily remedied by charging at home or charging with your laptop and not being a huge retard
i cant believe something like smartphones are so insecure you can actually infect them with a charger that's impressive

Re: USBCondoms - Charging only, no data
nope i was off on that guess it's even less
Max. current 500–900 mA (general); 5 A (charging devices)
that's 3 watts average you would literally get more current from a shitty 4"x4" solar panel from china
