zenwalk
a spinoff distro i like for once
it's built off of slackware and uses the same installer (although more streamlined and less configuration options eg. what daemons are running on startup), it uses a nice little preconfigured XFCE. it's mainly for desktop users with some experience in how lunix works, comes with every development tool you'd ever need, multimedia, a good basic ootb theme and can still fit inside a run-of-the-mill CD ROM (600 MB). it follows a design philosophy of "one tool for every task", so the main menu of applications is THICK but there's no overlap in what does what.
it also has its own in-house package manager, netpkg, which is basically slackware's pkgtools with some auto-downloading abilities
would recommend
