what a shitty article

"The memory consumption of Razor-qt is slightly above the one of LXDE using 114Mb in a reviewer's test while LXDE used 108Mb in a user test.[6]"

just tossed right there

razor-qt is pretty good in my experience, it's like KDE but not heavier than a blue whale

the only issue is there are no fucking distros that support it by default, and installing a DE when you already have one is a great way to destroy your OS

nobody knows how to use it right they just make shitty glossy garbage, like KDE4. it is pretty fast on its own but its so unsupported, like windows uses whatever the fuck windows uses to draw widgets and everything on linux uses GTK and OS X uses cocoa or some shit so QT is the odd one out

i dont like the fracture between GTK and qt applications on linux, like if you have a nicely configured gtk and then open a qt application it looks like SHIT. the only reason to be pure qt is if you're using KDE since KDE loves it

GTK is absolutely positively superlatively more widely supported and used

usually if you make an application in QT it goes nowhere just because 95% of the linux userbase uses DEs that primarily use gtk and qt looks like shit with it

i hear windows has good support for qt though so you might be better off there, gtk has never played well with it

the thing about qt is it's made to run on as many systems as possible. even haiku has a port

how many operating systems it can function on isn't directly proportional to how good something is though

some dude ported it from C to .NET C# rendering it only able to run on windows systems that have .net installed

im using razor right now on porteus and it's pretty good it's basically just KDE4 with all the stupid memory-consuming shit torn off

it still runs a little funny (on my netbook) but thats likely just because im running from removable media

having two desktop envs installed at the same time tends to cause problems
