i want to see how well i can get it to work on my laptop

i wanted to use plan 9 from bell labs on it but its wifi support is completely nonexistent

ok it fucked up and forgot to install the fucking bootloader

im not doing it again because i want to dual boot with wangbutts xp so i can play my danmakus and i dont want to accidentally corrupt tha filesystem so im installing haiku

openbsd gets a shit/10

im going to try installing it onto my desktop

goodbye slackware we had fun together but updating you is a shit bitch and makes my security autism go wild

haiku is also corporate server tier secure just because it's so fucking obscure that no malware exists for it

haha haiku shuts down so fast that my laptops' fans dont get enough time to wind down and make this high pitched "kich" sound wehn it powers off

it's mildly concerning, i don't want to break my computer just by turning it on and off

this shit is gratingly UNIX-y mega weren't you going to install this on your computer it would have fucked you so hard you be able to taste taste its unix philosophy dick

it doesn't even ship with any browsers you have to connect to an FTP server from a commandline and try to sift around to get it

its package install process is excellent though, since you can use it to connect to file servers and it can even download dependencies

i like that ui

im going to do a reinstall though since i installed firefox because i thought openbsd's software library would blow cock and ff was all there was (neither are true) and it pulled like 600 MBs of stupid overheads and dependencies which ruins my lightweight UNIX philosophy experience

openbsd ships with a ton of different window managers you can use, though, though most of them havent been relevant (at least in linux) since 1996

i removed haiku cuz it sucks and wouldnt recognize my wifi so now im just uzing lubuntu

lubuntu is kool because it's actually fast unlike regular ubuntu which uses pre-fetched animation to simulate the feeling that the operating system isn't currently shitting its self and make you think it's running smoothly

alt-tabbing in ubuntu is like getting in a fist fight with a brick wall

my only major quealm is the rediculous device names

on linux, your first partition on your first disk is /dev/sda1 (if your using sata, if you have IDE it's /dev/hda1). your second partition is /dev/sda2, etc. your second disk's first partition is /dev/sdb1. it's so fuckin easy. ethernet is eth0, your DVD drive is dvd/cdrom, etc

on openbsd your first disk is /dev/adsadjklheuiyr034ydkslzfmnx,z and your ethernet is w3q8346987shdiodj and fucking holy shit
