Google reportedly paid Adblock Plus not to block its ads

Google has reportedly paid the makers of Adblock Plus, the single most popular browser extension on Chrome and Firefox, to look the other way when it comes to its web advertisements. According to the German news site Horizont, Google and other unnamed companies are paying to be included on a "whitelist" that prevents their pop-ups, banners, and display ads from being blocked by the free service.

Horizont said in a report that it's unclear how much Google has paid Eyeo, the company behind Adblock Plus, to whitelist its ads, and that it doesn't know which other companies are doing the same. Both Eyeo and Google didn't respond to email requests for comment on Friday afternoon

google doesnt even need its advertising that's just for some extra profit on the side, a vast majority of its wealth comes from companies and others paying to get their results 'higher up' in google searches

what do you mean 'the menus'

install midori im using it now after spending like 6 hours compiling shit and it's quaint as FUCK. it also comes with a home-grown adblocker with zero bloat

my only beef with it is pressing the space bar on the bottom of a page activates that one "next page" gimmick which is annoying because i use the space bar to submit posts on quick reply, which is on the bottom of the page.

i've been using duckduckgo lately and it's actually pretty good, the only thing google has over it is typing it into the url bar when im out to search for things is fully ingrained in me so i just instinctually go to it

protip: ddg.gg is a redirect to duckduckgo's site so you dont have to type all that shit
