tape drives

are they worth it? i'm thinking of getting one for all of my autismal archiving needs since external hard drives are pricey in comparison to these motherfuckers (i'm looking at one with 3TBs for 30 dollars right now)

yeah maybe if i was using it as an operating system inexplicably, where there would be constant access all over the place

tape archives are basically "go in and unload a ton of shit into it"

tempting! $1500 seems like a lot but it has a low cost of use (lasts a long time and the tapes for them are CHEAP)

im not complimenting the transfer rates i'm complimenting the size/price ratios, im more than able to leave my computer on overnight

tape drives are literally just cassettes with an insane amount of 'volume'

also those are oldies from like 2004

so fuckin hyped
