a vast majority of japanese people are learning english and phasing out their homeland's original tongue so that they can be productive members of society and speak a language that more than a couple million people know

english speakers learning japanese do it so they can enjoy their cartoon porn without subtitles

whenever i watch something from nippon or any other country i avoid subtitles or translation because the human brain is a fascinating piece of machinery and can decipher what's going on without having to know the language, this is especially the case in things such as annamay which is very very visual

um i don't think annymay is a very good example for this because from what I've seen it makes no sense with or without subtitles

then again i've never seen an anime other than pokeyman

the human brain compares and analyzes EVERYTHING - if you took an english speaker, gave them a rundown on basic japanese vocabulary, taught him the katakana/hiragana and a dozen kanji and put an adult-level book in his hands he would likely be able to read it from front to back and beocme fully fluent in a month or two with some dedication

there are shitlords who use specialized programs to help them remember kanji (and not even vocabulary) using mnemonics and they spend years to reach a level where they can read a children's novem

it makes sense though since programming is super english-centric, im pretty sure there are no hiragana-compatible programming languages out there and jap is nationalistic as hell
