megahertz myth: version two

if any of you fags were using computers up until the Core 2 series of Intel processors or are a well-read bunch of fags; you would know that back in the day; every fag and his mother were bragging about their shitty processors based on its clock rate (which is essentially the speed that the processor oscillates at to perform operations)

thankfully this shit ended and companies stopped dumping money into making shitty processors with MAXIMUM CLOCK RATES like the Pentium 4 NetBurst series

but now a new level of idiocy has emerged in which the number of cores (especially in smartphones) has been touted as somehow the descriptor of how good the device is

this is most evident when you have a quad core processor running at the speed of a fucking Pentium II

imagine a processor as a cubicle

each core is a worker and the clock speed is the rate at which they all (combined) function

if you have a single core processor; this one worker functions on every task

if you have a quad core processor; four 'workers' function on the tasks

however; it is up to the application to split the workload between these core workers; so in unoptimized or only dual-core-threaded applications; you might find that one worker is doing all of the work; or perhaps the workload is unevenly loaded

for instance; one worker might handle the physics paperwork and the other would handle the input/output streams from the hard disk

other factors influence the processor (much like real workers); so a quad core processor from a more expensive model line will obviously have superior cubicle workers

in the case of these smartphones; you have two or four shitty workers working slow as fuck
