i can say with certainty that if i ever actually got a smartphone this is what i'd be using because a. i'm not supporting google and b. i'm not supporting apple

nexus phones have the bootloader unlocked so you can wipe it i dont think google goes THAT far to ensure your install is permanent even if you wipe the phone via the terminal
