neverdaunt 8bit

okay so back a while back in the days of otb and rp4 for time estimation there was this neat game i played
i really have no idea how i found it, i remember one day that i had a friend who a few years back told me about some kind of game and neverdaunt just struck me as its name probably,
here's a video and more about it in a second

areas were usually more aesthetically pleasing, of course

so anyways i searched that shit up and it was really cool looking
see it was all on one big server and had a small community of maybe 60 players
the entire map of the game was relatively small but its size didn't matter because shit changed every day
see the entire map was divided into 'cells', rougly 70 or so of them iirc. some cells were captureable, some were not; the ones that weren't were either 'public' or owned by admins; at certains days of the week during certain hours all cells defected to capture mode, and a player could waltz into someone's cell and destroy anything they built in search of a 'shrine', which would allow them to capture the cell and take it for your own, and theoretically you could own almost all cells in the game [management would be difficult as fuck but it was possible]
its small community assured everyone was aware of everyone else so it was really tense capturing cells sometimes because friengroups would start to try to track you out around the map on like manhunts [i was in one but i built myself a castle to protect myself and i'll elaborate on why right in a bit]
there was an in-game coding system called tronics that could do tons of shit, like making your own channel for the in-game radio to talk anonymously to other players instead of using your player radio, making shit move or something, etc.

a really cool part of N8 were 'legendaries', iirc either 7 or 9 existed, and they were weapons/shields with special attributes; in n8, all weapons did identical damage except some legendaries.
something that set off the community often was that me, lcke, and oozlebachrr were like thief assholes of the game and we'd just taff anything that wasn't nailed to the ground; a few months into our little group playing N8 we had word of a guy named socks who was quitting N8 and had a legendary called the 'tommay' after this supposed N8 old time player by the same name; being the taffy taffers we were we had to have it, as asides from looking cool it did 90 damage instead of the 50 or so.
so socks set himself up this mighty fine little contraption where the tommay rested underground in a pipe protected by a tronic slider, and had this really vague question tronic'd at the top of this nearby little structure that would supposedly open the slider if you put it in right;
being far craftier and taffy than the common cats we stayed around the cell for a week, checking each day to see when it went capture mode; when it went capture mode, we used a bomb to blow open the door and just fucking grab the sword, setting a manhunt on us.
the thing about legendaries is that every time a player with one in their inventory logged out, it would drop where they were last, and if you died with it it did the same; these players, if they had killed me [as i had it in my inventory] would have nabbed it and probably secured it better, but i knew the area well enough to navigate back to our home cell while the manhunt lost track of us.
the best part was that nobody knew our home cell, so we used our radio station that oozle engineered for us to just taunt everyone as they all threatened our radio channel, i loved it.

it went down for updates a year or two ago, and though it looks like it won't come about from aion's [the creator] blog he said some sappy shit like "i think about neverdaunt every day" which really looks up for n8

one server with an entirely player built map n few rules except what was established by higher ups in the community like chro
I did a job for chro where I'd steal stars from players to give him for game money dolers and it turns out he was saving up stars for fuel for upcoming update skyships or something of the like it was so cool
