So, then I entered 5th grade, which was a little tougher. I would sometimes start getting random depression. It felt weird getting it at such a young age, but I knew I wasn't really serious with all the things I thought up. Then, we moved to Colorado.
So, I went to 6th grade in Colorado, and I can safely say that this was the single worst year of my life. This was about the time I realized I had some serious mental issues. I went from a casual depression, to full-on random spurts of rage. Nearly every single day, I ended up leaving the room, crying my eyes out, and begging to go home and never come back to school. Eventually, later in the year, I started writing notes and taping them to the walls, asking for somebody to help me with my mental stability. The people who worked at the schools pulled the notes down, and without any care, just said "Get back to work."
So I would constantly try talking to the principal about how su1c1dal I was, and all she said was "Get back to work", like everybody else. This led to me eventually putting scotch tape over my mouth and nose, and locking myself in the bathroom, attempting to k1ll myself. I got stopped, but I still had a horrible time for the rest of the year. Nobody cared, though. That was the worst part of it.
I really don't know if I was actually su1c1dal by that point, or if I was just attempting to get people to care about me, and give me some attention. Throughout my 6th grade years, I was also very socially awkward, and my su1c1de attempts weren't exactly private. Everybody knew that I had some sort of problem.
So, 7th grade comes up. This was exactly what my personal hell was. I couldn't even stay in a classroom anymore. Every day of my life from that point on was me sitting in the counselor's office. I belonged in a mental institution by this point. I would throw chairs across the room, have constant twitching and spasms from pure depression, and I would constantly be sitting by the counselor crying and begging to go home, threatening to k1ll myself if I didn't get to be free from school. I was 100% serious about this, I wasn't just doing this to scare them.
I HATED this new counselor. I always thought inside that she never did care about me. So, one day, I asked her "Do you even care?" and she replied "Honestly, no. I have way more students to care about than just you. Now get to work."
So, my parents decided to take me out of public school in December, and sign me up for homeschooling. My life has been fixed from that point onward, and even though I still get visits from those mental issues I used to have every once in a while, I can control it.

So, the lesson is if you're struggling with something and your gut says "Do _______ instead", don't hesitate to do that.
