i've got a core i7 laptop locked with a shitty nvidigay mobile gpu and an athlon ii x2 desktop that was only good for 2011

the latter is my mom's now so i'm not touching it anymore than the radeon 5670 we put in a few years back

if there is ONE thing, i have an AM2+ motherboard lying around from an inspiron 531, which can support a decent processor from what i've seen

but i'd still rather play it with the laid back niggas on xbl

"cheap" AMD's products absolutely cost less than the competitors

"dying company" not at all motherfucker their APUs are in all 3 of the this gen's consoles and they've been in 3 generations of nintendo. they're not going anywhere

a lot of people talk tons of it about AMD because a lot of games aren't optimized for ALL THOSE CORES but if you don't play games they usually perform better than intel equivalents, especially if you're a heavy multitask-er or do rendering

the difference between intel and amd is their entire processor fab design - it's cheaper for amd to make many cores that don't perform quite as well/are as powerful as intel's but as a result they're so much cheaper and more reliable

intel fabricates their chips in such a way that their most common yield is two or four cores and unlike amd they rarely have defective chips when making single dual or quad core processors because otherwise they would sell three cores like amd does - those three core chips are quad cores that failed testing and had one of the cores locked because it didnt perform to proper standards but amd's standards are much higher than standard use so you can unlock them and use a tri core amd processor as a quad core

intel's six core processors on the other hand are their 'golden' batches made from the best of the best yields they can possibly get so they cost a niggerload

chemical vapor deposition and the other fab techniques aren't perfect but if they were everything electronics related would be much cheaper

you might have read the sd card article about how every modern sd card has a little arm processor to automatically correct memory errors that result from using cheap, bad doped silicon
