We’re way better than that. Their annual average may be as much as 80 to 100 (micrograms per cubic meter of air) with Beijing sometimes peaking at 800 to 900. In the United States, a couple of decades ago in places like Pittsburgh and Los Angeles, we had places that averaged in the low 30s. The most we get now, even in our most polluted cities, is the low 20s.

the most polluted cities in the us get is ~20 mg of particles/cm³ and they peak at 900 that must be like walking through foam

i remember one morning a bunch of the emissions from our pulp mill got bogged down due to cold weather and came to the "surface level" and holy shit it felt THICK

i bet it was nowhere near as bad as 900 though

ya but it's cheap shit the us/russia/etc don't rely on china as a government because no matter how many underpaid starving suicidal chinese workers you force to work on a project you're not gonna make airplanes space shuttles and missiles

the actual ones the chinese have are notably not produced by their cheap labor and paid by profits from trade but without the world china gets fucked

from what i hear also they have REALLY fucked up construction/engineering industries because skimping out on guidelines and safety regulations on materials and building is often acceptable
