Following on from Nintendo's decision to cease manufacturing of Wii in Japan, Nintendo UK has confirmed that it will no longer be importing Wii consoles from Japan, meaning you will no longer be able to purchase a new Wii console in Europe.

Nintendo told MCV that those wishing to play Wii games have plenty of options available to them. "Wii imports to Europe have been discontinued. However, there are still a variety of options for consumers to enjoy Wii games and the Wii gameplay experience.

"Wii U, which is Nintendo's latest home console, is backwards compatible with nearly all existing Wii games and accessories, so you can enjoy a vast library of disc-based and downloadable Wii games and Wii gameplay experiences when you switch to Wii Mode on Wii U. Wii Mini is also now available across Europe offering Wii gameplay experiences at a great value. Wii Mini puts the focus squarely on games with over 1200 existing disc-based Wii titles to choose from."

That's a good job, too as there have been some Wii games released in the last couple of months. Just Dance 2014, Disney Infinity and Skylanders: Swap Force have recently been released for the console.

about the vc thing for gcn gamez tho

isn't wind waker hd unfortunately giving nintendo reason to just quickly remake those games for quick cash thus not even bother with vc because more money is to be made with the former

i mean sony has done this before and it pisses me off

does wii u support the GCN controller? WW was specifically tailored to go well with its layout (which it certainly did)

apparently the wii u does support the gcn controller and games (though this is a different thing in itself) through wii mode but it needs some sort of adapter

the thing about nintendo i see a lot of their fans not getting is that they aren't sworn to one single way of doing things. only plod slowly behind the rest of the industry without rushing to chase any fads or get in on the latest trend. they just check to see if what they're doing works and works well, and then make their own little spin of it to put into their games. the only exceptions have been the wii and NDS (although the NDS's gimmick wasn't much of a risk), and you could also say the original game boy although they had mr. game and watch do a test-run some ten years beforehand

the "HD Remakes" thing was bound to happen eventually

Not sure if it has anything to do with the value but capcoms contract with tatsunoko ran out
