why piracy is stupid

In order for all software, movies, music etc. to be pirated, someone has to first buy a copy. This applies to pretty much all of it. In the case of things like collector's editions or Adobe software, the prices can be as high as $1,200. The movie, game, bundle etc. then gets distributed on sites that carry these, for free, and on most occasions also costs the uploader bandwidth to seed their torrents, if uploaded in that fashion. You're telling me that there's some rich moneybags from Turkey who's buying hundreds or thousands of dollars of media and then giving it away for free, with no feasable means of making profit (other than a malnourished paypal donate button) other than throwing a few trojans into his keygen? Music and videos are vulnerable to Windows users too, because of the lack of variety, and because everything is ran as root; it's not hard nowadays to make a video file have a buffer overflow and install a rootkit. Are you sure taking these risks is worth saving four or five dollars? You'd be stupid to download something from anywhere other than the official source.

back when i was into da piracy i remember quite a few 'cracked' programs being made by people who disassembled the product found the activation code and deleted and reassembled it with a hex editor

that's only for small as shit programs disassembling something like photoshop is basically impossible because its so fucking huge and there's so much room for error (also i doubt it only has one activation code)

for fraps all you need is one guy to activate it and the copy can be shared with anybody

i was on a PRIVATE CRAKRKER community of egyptian retards called 'cgpersia' and photoshop and other adobe products connect to activation servers that you can block

then you toss in a serial code that fits the math described inside the disassembled source and you're good to go adobe doesn't give a shit enough to fix it apparently

hypercam 2 big shocker lets you pick less shitty codecs to encode in than gif and intel 1980 video encoder plus

nobody uses fraps because it literally takes up like 500gb of fucking space per second you nerd

adobe gets all their money from studios and other sht like that, 12 year old "professional LPers" would make up 0.0000004% of their income if all of them actually bought it so they dont care

steam is probably gonna release some shitty steam epic video software recorder program and charge $100 for it and steam users will eat it up so they can run their shitty games with the quality steam overlay software and record it too!

also you can capture your vga/whatever signal like da proz have been doing since like 2001 even my uncle had one in a box of his stuff

oh yeah back in 2011 i wanted to get a capture card for my tv so i could record my speedrunning attempts

i eventually just did it with a VCR from the shed but converting tapes to digital is a real fuckin bitch (but that old VHS quality is something to behold)

yeah i took it but i can't use it because it only has s video and composite outputs
