i use firefox because thats normally the default browser packed in on linux distros

even if you compiled from source you can STILL get fucked because there have been incidents where people have blatantly stuck backdoors into source code and had it exist for years without anyone knowing

freeBSD had an FBI backdoor for like 4 years in its fucking source and nobody noticed it because *surprise* a lot of people don't audit

openbsd is the only one that's really secure, because it's so small that it isn't painful to read through and they have a team of auditors to read every last square inch of kode and find vulns and backdoors

as a result there has been a total of two security vulnerabilities found in openbsd off the default install in about fifteen years and both of them were patched hours after their discoveries

plus most software is installed using the ports system where you compile from da sours so malicious binaries are a non-issue
