has to do with japan's bullshit export laws

basically nintendo has to rebrand shit to manufacture & sell it in other countries

japan's laws regarding EVERYTHING are ass-backwards, since nintendo is an "open platform" there's a multitude of restrictions that go into their japanese systems compared to american ones. also there's other reasons but they're mostly technological shit like encoding and so on so forth. not to mention that AC/DC ports are different in different countries
