It plays games from the NES (Famicom), SNES (Super Famicom), Mega Drive (Genesis), GBA, GB Color and original Game Boy. genesis would be 2008/2009

snes would be 2010/2011

so as you'd imagine, the gba and gbc compatibility is the only real issue here

ap.nintendo seriously seems to be only caring about the clones with the built in games

and also you gotta consider nintendo wouldn't bother with old hardware that is barely profitable standalone

so that's why the patent hasn't been renewed

so if there is one positive aspect

is the ability to use savestates through the unit

so i suppose it's good in that aspect if you have gaym with a dead save battery and are not skilled enough to solder in a tab battery

then there's the flaw with some of the games

the emulation cannot be 100% accurate on the famicom without updates

there's all the sound expansions, the mappers, and shit like that

so in non nerd fuckface terms, some games will not run right or work at all

so don't ask why the famicom slot exists on the retron 5 and why they think they can get full compatibility with all carts as a whole
