so ive been put in charge of making my moms shitty little computer usable

its got this cute little intel atom and 1 GB of HD space and the res is like 640x480 at the most

it consumes 90% physical memory on idle at startup from all the shitware she has installed

i'm reformatting EVERYTHING and installing debian minimal with XFCE onto this bitch, i may even go further than that and use an openbox configuration or something

holy shit this computer sucks so much balls im using it right now

oh and it has a single USB port so i can't get my big ass portable DVD drive to go in to do the usual method of burning onto it so i had to burn an ISO onto an USB stick using shitty fucking unetbootin

it took me 2 hours to burn a ~3 gig ISO when it normally takes me 10 minutes

u see she seeks the excitement of installing bloated shit onto her computer

i'm using my own password for the root password and not giving her sudoing priviledges, though. i think she'll be satisfied enough with the default xfce applications

unetbootin sucks ass and it hijacks the debian booter so idk if it's actually booting xfce, i had to use my l33t hacking ability and type "desktop=xfce" into the loader options

dat system loading in ~15 seconds
dat flawless performance

now i gotta load the fucking wireless drivers and then fag it up with a bunch of casual shit applications (chrome, gnucash, maybe a cursor set here and there)

i just installed chromium-browser and openoffice shat up the theme with the oxygen cursor set, changed the theme to clearlooks w/ mist and made sure to not give her sudoing priviledges and used my own password for the root password so she can't install any software and has her own application sandbox to play with without destroying everything

it's pretty fresh, she got it new a year or two ago i think

the default install of debian with XFCE is like 300 MB so it would fit and she would have ample space to work with anyways
